The Immersive Experience Alliance (IXA)

The Immersive Experience Alliance (IXA) consists of public universities with a focus on Extended Reality (XR) programs that blur the lines between physical and digital spaces to create unique and novel experiences. The time together will help bridge gaps among NGO Leaders, academic, institutions, and Immersive media creators, enabling them to learn from each other,network, and identity opportunities for potential collaborations.The partnership currently consists of Texas Immersive Institute (TXI) at the Moody College of Communication, The University of Texas at Austin, Arizona State University´s Media and Immersive experience (MIX) Center, University of Nebraska-Lincoln´s Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts and the College of Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) at the University of Colorado BoulderOur Values- IXA’s Guiding Principles focus on accessibility, applied creative research and educational enrichment for social impact.- Expanding access to technologies of authorship for immersive experiences.
Developing awareness of the ways immersive and interactive experiences can manifest social change.
- Enriching the educational landscape of programs in immersive experience and extended reality technologies.

Through filmmaking, interactive media, virtual reality, experience design, sonic arts, wearable technologies, AI and more, our students grow into creative leaders for an evolving world, graduating with the skills they need to tell the stories that matter to them.

Immersive Media Lab – College of Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) University of Colorado Boulder

The Immersive Media Lab (IML) is a high-impact teaching, research, and creative practice space designed to advance innovation in extended reality (XR) technologies. The IML equips faculty and students with a suite of XR tools for coursework, research, and workshops. Additionally, the lab fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling the seamless integration of XR technologies into research endeavors, creative projects, and commercial applications.
